Welcome Phil Kang: CYBA’s Newest Managing Director of Impact

We’re thrilled to welcome Phil Kang as our new Managing Director of Impact! A former Teach For America Bay Area corps member and school leader, Phil has spent his career advancing educational equity—most recently leading alumni development efforts on TFA’s national team. He’s excited to bring his passion and experience to Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bay Area. We sat down with Phil for a quick “getting to know you.” Here’s what he had to say:
- What made you want to work at Â鶹ÊÓƵ?
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s mission aligns deeply with my life’s work and values. I’m eager to contribute by supporting school sites and empowering young leaders as they grow personally and professionally. - What unique expertise do you bring that complements Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s work?
With my experience as a teacher and a school leader, I also led alumni leadership development at Teach For America, equipping educators to grow their impact beyond the classroom. - What are you most excited to learn/get into at Â鶹ÊÓƵ?
I am most excited to lead my team to effectively support our school sites and drive impact. - Where did you go to school/what did you study? Relevant previous roles?
I went to Binghamton University and studied political science. - Fun fact (not work-related):
I took a gap year to travel after high school.
