Welcome Emmanuel Ojo, Our New Impact Manager!

We’re excited to welcome Emmanuel Ojo to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bay Area team as our newest Impact Manager! Emmanuel brings years of experience in student support, peer coaching, and leadership development—most recently coordinating peer academic coaching programs at Virginia Tech and leading education initiatives in Nigeria. Passionate about equitable access to education, he’s eager to apply his skills to support our AmeriCorps members and deepen Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s impact in Bay Area classrooms. Here is a quick Q&A with Emmanuel!

Q: What made you want to work at Â鶹ÊÓƵ?
A: Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s mission, to expand equitable access to learning and belonging, speaks to me. I’m driven by service and by practical, day-to-day support that helps students feel seen, confident, and successful.

Q: What unique expertise do you bring that complements Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s work?
A: I’ve coordinated peer academic coaching and student success programs, trained and supervised student staff, and used data to guide outreach and measure impact. I’m strongest at building trusting relationships, creating inclusive learning spaces, and turning feedback into simple, useful supports for students and teachers.

Q: What are you most excited to learn/get into at Â鶹ÊÓƵ?
A: I’m excited to deepen my skills in students support, culturally responsive mentoring, and progress monitoring, while learning from teammates. I’m also eager to contribute to school-wide initiatives that strengthen attendance, engagement, and a sense of community.

Q: Where did you go to school / what did you study? Relevant previous roles?
A: I earned an M.S. in Agricultural, Leadership & Community Education from Virginia Tech. I spent two years with the Virginia Tech Student Success Center coordinating the Peer Academic Coaching program, designing workshops, training staff, and supporting students across the semester.

Q: Fun fact (not work-related):
A: I’m an avid fan of ancient and historical content, documentaries, museum exhibits, and long reads about civilizations and engineering feats are my happy place.
