Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles Applauds LAUSD Gains UnderÌýSuperintendent Carvalho’s LeadershipÌý

Strategic partnership focuses on district’s highest-need schoolsÌýto accelerate student successÌý

Los Angeles, CA — October 23,2025 — Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles today celebrated the progress highlighted in the Los Angeles Unified School District’s latest report on student achievement and school improvement. The district’s record-high performance across English Language Arts, Math, and Science reflects the bold leadership of Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, whose focus on equity and targeted investment has guided LAUSD’s commitment to its highest-need campuses.ÌýÌý

As part of that strategy, LAUSD directed Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles to focus its AmeriCorps service in the district’s Top 100 Priority Schools, ensuring that students most impacted by opportunity gaps receive daily academic and social-emotional support. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 150 AmeriCorps members now serve full-time across 19 LAUSD schools, working alongside teachers and administrators to help students stay on track to graduate.ÌýÌý

One example of this long-term collaboration is Thomas Jefferson High School, where Â鶹ÊÓƵ has been embedded for more than a decade. During that time, graduation rates rose from 61% to 82%, with more than 1,000 students receiving individual and small-group support to strengthen their academic and interpersonal skills alongside Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles mentors.ÌýÌý

Through sustained partnership and alignment with LAUSD’s vision, Jefferson continues to demonstrate the power of consistent support in driving student engagement, attendance, and achievement.ÌýÌý

The district’s most recent data confirm this momentum: Priority Schools, where Â鶹ÊÓƵ is concentrated, are driving some of the strongest gains in student outcomes districtwide.ÌýÌý

Superintendent Carvalho shared:Ìý

“When LAUSD partners with Â鶹ÊÓƵ, we’re not just plugging in support — we’re igniting transformation. These AmeriCorps leaders walk alongside our students day after day, helping us close gaps, restore belief, and accelerate learning across our schools. TheÌýÌý

progress we see now proves that when the district, partners, and community unite behind purpose, we aren’t merely recovering — we are reimagining possibility.â€ÌýÌý

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles Interim Executive Director Shawn Silver added:ÌýÌý

“We’re deeply proud to align our service with Superintendent Carvalho’s vision for equity and excellence. Focusing our corps members in LAUSD’s Top 100 Priority Schools allows us to be where we’re needed most — helping to strengthen school communities, inspire students, and create pathways to success.â€ÌýÌý

Together, LAUSD and Â鶹ÊÓƵ Los Angeles remain committed to ensuring every student has the support, resources, and belief they need to thrive — in school and beyond.ÌýÌý
