Â鶹ÊÓƵ Kansas City completes service project at W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center
Each year, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of service, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Kansas City partners with a local school or community organization for a full-day physical service event. In January 2021, we partnered with the W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center and adapted our signature community service event to take place virtually. Over 200 volunteers received painting kits and completed their service projects at-home early this year.
After installation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and inclement weather this spring, we are proud to announce the completion of our MLK Day of Service project. When the DuBois Center reopens to students this fall, they will be welcomed with images of Black leaders, messages of inspiration, and a beautified learning environment. DuBois Center Executive Director Tamara Clark Sykes says, “Although the devastating impact of COVID during our 2020/2021 school year dimmed the light of our organization, the process and quality of the art we received from Â鶹ÊÓƵ and their volunteers for the 2021 MLK Day of Service continues to shine a bright light of inspiration for us today and future generations to come. This was an amazing partnership!”
