鶹Ƶ Columbus Announces Ruth-Marie Lomax as New Executive Director
COLUMBUS (May 15, 2025) – 鶹Ƶ Columbus, an education nonprofit that works to advance academic outcomes for all students and develop the next generation of leaders through national service, announces that Ruth-Marie Lomax has been selected as the organization’s new executive director.
“We’re pleased to welcome Ruth as the new executive director of 鶹Ƶ Columbus, as she has served both the organization and the community with distinction over the course of her career,” said Brad Griffith, Board Chair, title and board chair of 鶹Ƶ Columbus. “We’re grateful that Ruth agreed to serve as interim executive director earlier this year, and that she’ll continue to lead 鶹Ƶ Columbus as we embark on our fourth decade of service. Ruth’s strengths and demonstrated commitment to our corps, students, and community make her the perfect leader for our organization.”
Launched in 1994, 鶹Ƶ Columbus recruits young adults for a year of service as AmeriCorps members. Corps members serve in local schools as student success coaches—tutors, mentors and role models—who partner with classroom teachers to help students engage more deeply with their learning, develop skills essential for workforce readiness, and graduate from high school prepared for college and career success.
This year, 35 鶹Ƶ Columbus AmeriCorps members are serving full-time across six city schools, reaching more than 2,800 students each day.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead 鶹Ƶ Columbus,” said Lomax. “Working with this exceptional team and our passionate corps members presents a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our commitment to empowering students and cultivating the next generation of inspiring leaders in Columbus. I look forward to partnering with our community and school district. Together, we can and will create lasting change in our community!”
Lomax previously served as senior director of site stakeholder engagement for 鶹Ƶ’s national headquarters, where she led market coaching, training, pipeline management and fundraising strategy and stewarded corporate relationships across 鶹Ƶ’s 29 U.S. sites. Prior to that role, Lomax oversaw development efforts for 鶹Ƶ Columbus, securing the site’s private revenue budget.
Before joining 鶹Ƶ, Lomax was a senior relationship manager for the United Way of Central Ohio, where she ran Central Ohio’s Columbus Kids initiative. She held other roles with early childhood education organizations earlier in her nonprofit career.
